China's Economic Challenges and Reform Strategies

The New Zealand Contemporary China Research Centre (NZCCRC) hosted a goodwill delegation from the Communist Party of China (CPC) to discuss Economic challenges and reform strategies. The Chinese delegation was led by Professor Liu Shijin Former Vice President, Development Research Center of the State Council. Professor Liu was joined by Mr. Wang Jingen, President of Contemporary World, a monthly periodical affiliated to International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC), Prof. Liu Peilin, Deputy Director-General and Senior Research Fellow, Department for Development Strategy and Regional Economy, DRC and other members of the Bureau for North American, Oceanian and Nordic Affairs.

The roundtable provided a unique opportunity for Scholars and members of Government to discuss issues related to China’s Economic and Social Development. A keynote speech was made addressing the outcomes of the Fifth Plenum of the 18th Central Committee of the CPC. The dialogue led to a greater understanding of challenges faced in China regarding economic development and gave rise to valuable dialogue on the policy positions of China regarding social development.
