The New Zealand Contemporary China Research Centre (NZCCRC) and the Centre for Strategic Studies (CSS) jointly hosted a delegation led by former Chinese Ambassador to Australia Mr Zhang Junsai. Ambassador Zhang was joined by Mr Zhou Fangyin, Director of the Centre for China's Peripheral Strategies at Guangdong Institute of International Studies, Mr Ding Gong, Research Fellow at Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Ms Hou Dongfang, Third Secretary, Department of North American and Oceanian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Amb. Zhang led Chinese Delegation in productive talks with Senior fellows of the CSS and NZCCRC.

The roundtable provided an opportunity for experts to have discussions on a range of issues relevant to the Asia Pacific Region. Topics discussed include the security outlook for the Asia Pacific, The Korean Peninsula, New Zealand-China relations. The dialogue led to greater understanding of the policy positions and objectives of each country in the region, highlighted common regional challenges, and discussed the potential for furthering regional cooperation in the Asia Pacific.
