Public Panel Discussion: Impending Crises in the Cryosphere

Tipping Points and their consequences.
Lecture Theatre 1, Rutherford House, 33 Bunny Street, Wellington.

The accelerating loss of the cryosphere, which holds 70%of the world's fresh water in all its forms - sea ice, lake ice, mountain glaciers, the polar ice sheets and their ice shelves, snow and permafrost - is one of the clearest planet-wide consequences of global warming.

Hear from leading international climate scientists, in Wellington for the CLIC Open Science Conference 2026, about what we are in for, what can still be done and how we can adapt to this impending crisis in Earth's cryosphere. Includes an audience Q&A facilitated by Radio New Zealand climate journalist Kate Newton.

Panelists:  Florence Colleoni (Italy), Richard Levy (New Zealand), Petra Heil (UK), Ben Marzeion (Germany), Liza Mack (USA).

Attendance is free of charge but pre-registration is required here
