Victoria University of Wellington scholarships

Many scholarships are available for students at Victoria University of Wellington, through the Scholarships Office.

The office maintains the Scholarships Database, a comprehensive searchable database listing all available scholarships with criteria, value, tenure and closing dates. Most application forms can be downloaded from this database. For best results when searching the database, keep the search terms broad.

The office also welcomes enquiries from students and staff. Please contact us by email or drop in to 10 Kelburn Parade between 8.00 am and 4.30 pm.

Antarctic Research Centre scholarships

The S.T. Lee Travel Award, the Endowed Development Fund and the Arnold Heine Antarctic Research Award are available for students with Antarctic research interests.

PhD Scholarship - Machine learning for uncertainties of past ice-volume changes

Closing date: 31 October 2020

A fully funded PhD position for three years is available at the Antarctic Research Centre (ARC) to use Machine Learning methods for improving our understanding of uncertainties of past ice-volume and global temperature inferred from geological proxy records. The successful candidate will be hosted by the ARC and collaborate with a large number of international scientists and graduate students from the ARC, GNS Science, and the Antarctic Science Platform. Being part of the new and exciting National Modelling Hub, the candidate has access to excellent technical support, high-performance computing, statistical modelling, climate modelling, and to collaborations with the University’s Data Science Programme.
