Combatting Jetlag - Many exchange destinations require long flights and you may be jetlagged when you arrive. Drink plenty of water, exercise, and don’t give in to the temptation to fight jetlag with caffeine or you risk an even greater crash.

Go to Orientation – Orientation Programmes held by your host university will allow you to get answers to many of the questions you may have as well as offer an opportunity to meet both local and international students.

Take Advantage of Support – Most universities offer programmes and workshops for international students to help them negotiate their new academic and social environment. These programmes are especially helpful for students studying in non-English speaking countries.

Explore – When you have some free time, try and explore as much as possible. This will help you get comfortable in your new surroundings.

Get Involved!– One of the easiest ways to make friends on exchange is by joining clubs, sport teams, or other various student organizations.

Be Open-Minded – You will have the opportunity to do things and to have experiences that may be out of your comfort zone. Take advantage of these opportunities and try new things.
