The School of Accounting and Commercial Law is pleased to welcome the academic team of Professor Jake Rose and Associate Professor Ania Rose, who have recently joined us from the United States.

Jake Rose

Jake and Ania Rose have not only brought their research and teaching expertise to the School, but have also brought their young family to enjoy the Wellington lifestyle. They had considered moving to New Zealand for more than a decade, and decided that Victoria University offered the perfect balance of academic challenges and a great family environment.

Professor Jake Rose is a very active researcher, and is particularly interested in studies involving professionals’ judgments and decisions that have the potential to change and improve accounting and governance practice.  He believes that Victoria University’s research community, and the school’s ties with many facets of the New Zealand government, offer a great environment for engaging in research that matters to the public.

Ania Rose

University life has played a large part in the life of Associate Professor Ania Rose, as both her parents were professors of electrical engineering in Poland and the US. Exploring many different university environments has always been a fulfilling part of her academic career, and she sees coming to Victoria University as an opportunity to contribute to the accounting community in a different environment. Ania’s many experiences at other institutions, as well as her research focus in the fields of auditing and fraud detection, will provide valuable insights to the programmes at Victoria University.

Outside the University, Jake and Ania have been busy planting orchards and preparing horse paddocks on the family’s lifestyle block.  With their two young children, they are enjoying an active outdoors lifestyle, spending as much time as possible exploring Wellington and the rest of New Zealand.
