Profile:

Mariam Girgis is a PhD student in Accounting at the School of Accounting and Commercial Law. Her PhD research focuses on the intersection of global warming and financial sector accountability in climate change mitigation. Her work examines the credibility of banks' climate transition plans within their disclosures, a critical yet underexplored area. Her study aims to illuminate the financial sector's efforts against greenwashing and their commitment to net-zero targets. It provides valuable insights for stakeholders and enhances our understanding of financial sector practices in climate change mitigation.
