Roundtable with the Institute of International Studies of Fudan University
The China Research Centre hosted a roundtable with a delegation from Fudan University on Monday the 22nd of September. The delegation was led by Professor Wu Xinbo, Executive Dean, Institute of International Studies, Professor Song Guoyou, Associate Professor Qi Huaigao and Zhao Yuguang, Deputy Director of the Department of Policy Planning, ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The roundtable provided an opportunity for New Zealand and Chinese scholars to exchange views on a number of issues in the region. These included, New Zealand views and evaluations of Chinese policy in the region; potential areas of New Zealand-China cooperation; as well as potential challenges in the region. Much time was spent discussing China’s role in regional institutions, China in the South Pacific, regional security and economic integration and the further development of New Zealand-China relations.
