StudySpy helps students across Aotearoa navigate one of life's biggest decisions: what to study.

StudySpy is New Zealand’s education directory, helping over 140,000 people a year make one of the biggest calls of their lives - what to study and where.

Brought to life by Victoria University of Wellington alum Michael Watson, StudySpy takes the confusion out of education decisions by bringing together every tertiary course, scholarship, and provider in Aotearoa - from apprenticeships to degrees, kura to universities.

What began as an idea during the Victoria Entrepreneurship Bootcamp is now a nationwide platform used by students, whānau, careers advisors, and government agencies. StudySpy powers the Study with New Zealand website via a partnership with Education New Zealand, helping international students discover study options across the motu.

Built as a social enterprise and proudly bootstrapped, StudySpy provides free tools to support better decisions, whether that’s through the search platform, API services, or behind-the-scenes data work. It’s education info without the guesswork (or the million browser tabs).

Michael says, “The support, mentors, and mindset that came out of The Atom were huge in those early days. It's cool to reflect on how far StudySpy has come since then.”
