JJOBS
The video-first job matching platform designed to empower students and recent graduates with little or no experience to confidently secure their first job.
Woori Bae, a third-year Bachelor of Design Innovation student at Victoria University, started JJOBS in 2025 after noticing how difficult it is for students, especially those without experience to find their first job. JJOBS began at Startup Weekend Wellington, where Woori worked with a diverse team of senior developers, marketers, and project managers to build a prototype in just three days ultimately winning first place.
“As a design student, I’m always looking for innovative ways to solve real problems,” Woori explains. “My idea was simple but powerful: turn the stressful job search into a fun, video-based experience inspired by TikTok. But I couldn’t have made it real on my own. I'm deeply grateful to have had an amazing team to bring this idea to life.”
During the event, JJOBS was the only team to generate actual revenue, earning money from employers who were actively looking to hire students even those without prior experience. The app allows students to showcase their personalities and skills through short video résumés called “Cvdeos,” while employers can easily scroll through clips and make quick, human-centred hiring decisions. It’s fast, intuitive, and built for a generation raised on mobile video.
Woori adds, “We believe the problem isn’t with students or job seekers, it's with outdated systems. JJOBS empowers both sides to connect in a more natural and engaging way.”
Currently focused on student employment, the platform has the potential to expand into broader hiring markets, bringing inclusivity and innovation to recruitment across Aotearoa and beyond. Our dream is for JJOBS to become New Zealand’s first homegrown social media platform with a meaningful purpose.
