Mission statement
Read the School of Government’s mission statement.
The School of Government casts an honest, fair and critical voice in the public debate on policy and governance and contributes to the present and future governance of Aotearoa New Zealand in three key ways. We create and share knowledge to support good governance, particularly in connection to the distinctive Tiriti o Waitangi context of this country and our responsiblities to whānau, hapū and iwi Māori.
We develop public sector capability through creating an effective learning environment that challenges and equips our participants with the public policy and public management knowledge and skills to guide and innovate throughout their careers. We also engage with and influence communities of practice, academic discourse and the views of the public at large through our scholarship, policy advice and outreach in Aotearoa New Zealand and globally.
