Profile
I completed LTCL (Music Performance Horn) and a BA in Maths and Music at VUW in 1980. I then moved to London to do further musical study and became a freelance musician working in London and throughout Europe for 11 years. In 1992 I moved to Christchurch where I taught Statistics and Mathematics with Calculus for NCEA Levels 13 and NCEA Scholarship (as well as their Bursary predecessors).
From 2013 – 2015 I taught at the University of Canterbury, lecturing and tutoring 1^{st} year Mathematics, Engineering Mathematics and Statistics papers. In 2014 and 2015 I developed and lectured two Foundation Mathematics courses for the University of Canterbury International College. During my Christchurch years, I was also Principal Horn of the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.
The textbook that I cowrote with David Barton, Essential Maths and Stats for Higher Education (publ. Pearson, 2013), is used for MATH132 at VUW.
My primary role as Senior Tutor in SMS has been to develop and teach the new curriculum for STAT193. In 2018 I will be Course Coordinator.
