Victoria University of Wellington’s School of Architecture is located in the artistic Cuba Street area of central Wellington.

The School joins an ever-expanding network of esteemed design schools and faculties that collectively provide core funding for the journal.

With institutions ranging from North America to Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa—and now Aotearoa New Zealand—the network is a diverse group that shares Places’ commitment to public scholarship on architecture, landscape, and urbanism, and to building a larger public constituency for serious design writing.

Head of the School Professor Rod Barnett (Ngati Raukawa) says he is pleased and proud to join the network of academic partners that support the fantastic work of Places Journal.

“Our school, located on a rising harbour, in the centre of a city built on stolen land, is eager to join with our partners and with Places in their determination to bring the best research and scholarship on the natural and built environment into the public realm.”

Professor Robyn Phipps, Dean of the Wellington Faculty of Architecture and Design Innovation—Te Wāhanga Waihanga-Hoahoa, will represent the School on Places’ board of directors.
