There are three subjects taught by the School of Information Management.

Courses and research at the School of Information Management are focused in the following main areas:

Changes to Information Systems major requirements in 2023

In 2023, the requirements for a major in Information Systems were updated, and INFO was added as a major to the Bachelor of Science.

The previous requirements were, in addition to the core requirements for the Bachelor of Commerce:

At 100 level: include, INFO 101, INFO 141, INFO 151
At 200 level: include three courses from INFO 200-299
At 300 level: include INFO 320 or 395, and two further courses from INFO 301-399

Existing students can choose which pathway to follow. The flowcharts outlining the paths, below, also include descriptions of specialisations:

Business Analysis (BA)
IT Systems (IT)
Organisational Data (OD).

Pre-2023 regulations

We recommended current students follow the pre-2023 (old) regulations if they:

plan to finish their degree before 2025
have already completed at least two of the 100 level papers listed above
are completing the IT Systems specialisation.

We recommend current students follow the new regulations if they:

will finish their degree in on after 2025
have not completed the 100 level papers listed above
are studying part-time or for a conjoint degree
are completing the Organisational Data specialisation.
