Belle Dang
Belle's research examines how humans and AI collaborate and learn together in increasingly hybrid digital environments
Supervisors: Dr Yvonne Hong and Dr Cathal Doyle
Profile
Belle Dang is currently a doctoral researcher in the School of Information Management whose work examines how humans and artificial intelligence interact, collaborate, and learn together in increasingly hybrid digital environments.
Her research sits at the intersection of information systems, AI in education, and learning sciences, focusing on how emerging AI systems reshape human decision-making, regulatory processes, and professional capability. Her prior work at the University of Oulu advanced understanding of human-AI interactions and hybrid intelligence through multimodal learning analytics, mixed-reality experiments, and studies of different AI application in education and educational research.
Her doctoral research project at VUW investigates how higher education can be redesigned to prepare learners for AI-integrated professional environments. Using an Action Design Research approach, the project develops and evaluates curriculum models that embed meaningful human–AI collaboration into disciplinary learning.
This work examines how AI reshapes cognitive, metacognitive, and organizational practices, and how curricula can cultivate the competencies required for graduates to work effectively with AI systems. This also aims to generate actionable guidance for universities seeking to design human-centered, future-focused AI curricula.
