Research Interests

Yohanes’s research interests are related to retrieval systems, data mining, and database management systems. It’s all about how real-world problems can be solved through Information Systems.

For his PhD research, he studied how knowledge representation in Official Statistics domain supports the Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) mechanism with Large Language Models (LLMs).

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence, particularly Large Language Models (LLMs), has fundamentally transformed how people search for, access, interpret, and interact with information. Rather than relying on predefined keywords or structured query languages, users increasingly expect to communicate with information systems through natural language, enabling more intuitive and conversational access to knowledge.

The research focuses on developing knowledge-augmented LLM-based Question Answering systems for official statistics. His work aims to bridge the gap between natural language queries and domain specific structured official statistical resources, enabling more accessible, explainable, and reliable access to official statistics for the public.
