The School of Information Management began offering a Master in Business Analysis in July 2016. The new degree is part of the Wellington ICT Graduate School's suite of practically-focused postgraduate programmes that will equip graduates with the skills and attributes sought by industry.

Consultation with industry has informed design of the qualifications to be offered by the Graduate School.

The Master of Professional Business Analysis (MBusAn) is designed for students who have a degree in a field outside information technology to complement their skillset and to become business analysts in their original field.

The programme will build on students' knowledge of their domain of origin, and the study skills they acquired in their previous qualification.

Graduates will be able to apply their understanding of their field of expertise to develop IT solutions for a workplace and be able to recommend appropriate solutions, based on sound, evidence-led decision making skills that are based on the fundamental principles of academic research and real-world exposure.

The programme is delivered through a combination of course work, workshops, and a project that will require significant time working with industry partners under the supervision of an academic.

The new ICT Graduate School premises opened in Trimester 2 2016, with many of the courses to be offered in the CBD.

The Graduate School is closely connected with the Wellington Tech Hub, established by the Wellington City Council and Biz Dojo, to provide a place for the tech community to connect, collaborate and generate new and exciting ideas.

The Tech Hub provides a point of engagement between ICT firms and the Wellington ICT Graduate School, a base for the School’s non-academic staff and a venue to deliver workshops, bootcamps, competitions and networking events.
