Victoria University of Wellington has many opportunities outside the classroom for you to get involved with sustainable initiatives.

Wellington Plus

Wellington Plus is the University’s service and leadership development programme. It enables you to give back to your community and gain skills to impress employers.

There are also plenty of opportunities to participate in sustainability-related activities, from volunteering with community groups and tree planting to attending workshops.

Wellington International Leadership Programme (WILP)

If you’re interested in developing your knowledge and skillset in other countries and cultures, and keen to kick-start an internationally focused career, WILP is an ideal way to get involved.

Several of the topics covered in the WILP seminars, speaker events and experiential activities that relate to sustainability overseas.

Careerhub

The University’s CareerHub is an online system that provides you with all you need to know about job seeking, career planning and graduate recruitment.

It also has listings of volunteer opportunities and events on campus—many of which are related to sustainability.

Green Impact Te Herenga Waka Students

Network for students doing the Green Impact programme or wanting to connect with the sustainability office team.

VUWSA

The Victoria University of Wellington Students’ Association (VUWSA) are strong advocates for sustainability. A Wellbeing and Sustainability Officer is elected to the executive every year. VUWSA also delivers services including free inter-campus bus passes, a community pantry and a student garden. They also actively campaign for students on sustainability issues including fairer public transport fares and putting in place a warrant of fitness for rental housing.
