Green Impact staff awards
Green Impact is a fun and flexible program for staff to undertake practical actions to make Victoria University of Wellington more sustainable.
While the university tackles the big challenges with projects like the Zero Carbon Plan, you can do your bit by taking actions to minimise your impact on the planet, compete with other teams across the uni, and join the fun with Green Impact.
Green Impact staff awards
Taking part in Green Impact is as simple as joining or forming a team. Individuals located in the same physical space (such as an office, floor, or building) form a team to jointly undertake a series of actions from a pre-designed Toolkit. The Toolkit has been developed to help teams improve the environmental performance of their workspaces and covers a holistic approach to sustainability. Points from actions add up and, at the end of the year, can earn the team an award—and even a prize!
The program is fun, flexible, and voluntary. Teams can complete as many actions from the Toolkit as they like, even if it’s just one or two. The main aim is to help raise awareness of sustainability and take direct positive action within their workspaces.
Great for individuals or those who work from home/without an office space, Green Impact Iti is a smaller, quicker version of the programme. Register to the same staff toolkit at greenimpact.co.nz/wgtn and choose from actions to do at work or home—or a mixture! After you've done at least 15 actions, you can hit the 'Submit' button and get instant auditing and an individual certificate Program benefits
All Victoria University of Wellington staff can make up a team and follow the step-by-step guide below to get involved.
Teams sign up to take part in Green Impact. They may be any size and typically are composed of members from a school, faculty, or CSU.
Assign a team leader and get as many colleagues involved as you can. Email Melissa Lieser for more help or team training.
Participants take part in Green Impact by completing actions and recording them in an online toolkit. Actions are grouped into themed criteria. Participants progress through these criteria, completing multiple actions within the Toolkit to work towards accreditation.
All team members can have access to the Toolkit if they wish.
The Sustainability Office team are here to provide support at any time and every step of the way, just email Melissa Lieser.
In Mahuru (September), we ask that you submit your Toolkit, telling us exactly what you've achieved so far. Your online Toolkit will be audited by student auditors.
Join the celebration at our end-of-year Green Impact Award celebrations.
