Profile
Simin Yin is a PhD candidate researching genealogical data storage and Chinese genealogical information-seeking practice in New Zealand.
His doctoral project explores how Chinese family-history participants, clan members, and community researchers search for, evaluate, verify, and organise genealogical information when family records are incomplete, dispersed, or difficult to interpret.
A key part of his research is the development of a knowledge-graph-based framework for organising genealogical evidence. This framework aims to connect people, places, and events while preserving provenance and uncertainty. His research contributes to information behaviour, knowledge organisation, and digital genealogy.
