Although digital technologies hold enormous potential to innovate, disrupt, and transform entire business areas, we know little about their impact on business growth. In our exploratory interview study, we investigate key challenges and relating coping strategies of digital gazelles, i.e., high-growth enterprises which pursue a digital business model or make intensive use of digital technologies in their operations. To shed light on this yet under-researched class of enterprises and their technology use, we interviewed high-ranking representatives of five selected digital gazelles from different industries and of varying company age so far. We identified ten challenges across three different categories (organizational, technological, financial) and give first insights into related coping strategies for each identified challenge.
