Religious Studies is celebrating its 50^th anniversary at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington. We warmly invite all alumni, colleagues, students and friends of the programme to join us in celebrating this notable milestone.

The event will take place on Wednesday 27 July at 6 pm in the Hunter Council Chamber at the Kelburn Campus.

We will begin with a public lecture by Emeritus Professor Paul Morris entitled ‘Religion and Government in Aotearoa New Zealand.’ Paul was a professor of Religious Studies from 1994 to 2018.

Responding to Paul’s provocations, Auckland councillor Fa’anānā Efeso Collins, Reader in Law Māmari Stephens, and Professor of History Kate Hunter will open up a broader conversation on a topic urgently in need of a fresh and imaginative reassessment.

At 7:30 pm we will cut a celebratory cake. There will be plenty of food and drink to sustain an evening of good conversation and reminiscence.
