Student wins industry award

PhD candidate Arif Ahmed has won the Best Paper Award (Student) at the 2018 Electricity Engineers Association (EEA) annual conference for his paper, Usage of Weather Data for Dynamic Thermal Line Rating and Power Flow Analysis for Power System Planning and Operation.

In selecting the best paper, the judging panel take into account a number of criteria including the value of the research to the association and the industry. Arif, who is co-supervised by Dr Fiona Stevens McFadden of Robinson Research Institute and Dr Ramesh Rayudu of School of Engineering and Computer Science, is the first student from Victoria University of Wellington to have won the award.
