Support for using tools in Nuku
At Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington teaching fully integrates technology for digital access, enhanced interactivity, and learning creation.
Information is available to aid teachers in what technology they could use in their teaching, how to apply it, and where to get support.
Nuku Support
From Trimester 1 2024, BAU support for Nuku going forward will be during scheduled sessions or through self-help. This is due to the completion of the Learning Platform Project on 19 December 2023, project roles not continuing into BAU, and Learning Design and Academic Development resources in CAD prioritising financial recovery projects.
Student support for Nuku
The Student Support course catalogue includes courses for students which provide guidance and instructions on all aspects of using Nuku.
Go to the catalogue page and find out what courses and resources are available for students to understand how to engage with digital tools for learning. Staff can find a course, enrol in it and it will add it to there Nuku dashboard.
Learn in Nuku
This course is designed specifically for Nuku. It provides students with guidance on how to use Canvas and other tools, highlighting functionality that they are likely to encounter in their courses. View course or enrol in course.
If you are already registered, you can choose to 'view course'. To enrol in the course, select 'enrol in course', which will add a card to your dashboard for easy future reference
Self-help resources for course coordinators and support staff
Outside of the scheduled course preparation sessions, course coordinators and support staff will have access to the following self-help resources to aid them in preparing their course for teaching:

Yellow support button
Within Nuku, click on the yellow support button to access online support. Support information changes depending on which page and function you are on in Nuku (e.g. If in quizzes, support information with be focused on creating and managing quizzes). This is the best way of receiving just-in-time functional support for Nuku.
Canvas guides
For Canvas support, anyone can search the full Canvas Guides.
Nuku self-help and support courses
Staff Support course catalogue - Go to the Staff course catalogue page and find out what courses and resources you can access for yourself. Find a course, enrol in it and it will add it to your Nuku dashboard.
CAD resources found in the catalogue include the self-help courses: Teach in Nuku, Tools for L&T in Nuku, and Toiere
Teach in Nuku
This course provides guidance and instructions on all aspects of delivering your course on Nuku. To access this course, enrol on the Nuku website. Once you're enrolled, the course can be found on your Nuku dashboard.
The Course Preparation Checklist is stored within the Teach in Nuku course, and can be viewed on the Is your Nuku course ready for students? page. As courses are automatically rolled over months before the trimester begins. This checklist was created for course coordinators and support staff to ensure that the course copy has been completed, and there are no issues in the course prior to it going live to students. This checklist should be started before the first day of O' Week, and completed before teaching begins.

Technical issues logging a call
For technical queries and issues, such as error messages, tools not working, incorrect information or users in Nuku etc, please log a call via the staff service centre.

For information on systems statuses such as outages, performance issues and upcoming maintenance please refer to the Nuku status and support page.
Nuku queries and advice
For functional queries regarding Nuku, such as assessment setup, content creation etc where the answer could not be found in the self-help resources, please email nuku@vuw.ac.nz.
