Gender Diverse Māori and Embodiment

This thesis explores how self-identifying gender diverse Māori practice embodiment and relate to their bodies in contemporary Aotearoa. Special focus is paid to more 'traditional' embodiment practices such as tā moko/tattooing, ngā makawe/hair, and taha tinana/the physical self. Standard Anthropological methodology is fused with Kaupapa Māori and Mana Wāhine methodology to form an approach that may 'Indigenise' Anthropology.
