This short film made by Arini Loader (School of History, Philosophy, Political Science and International Relations) and Mike Ross (Te Kawa a Māui) celebrates the forgotten trove of Māori songcraft, written down by prisoners captured in November 1863 at the battle of Rangiriri. Thetwo researchers worked with Ngāti Hauā to make a short film showcasing the waiata to a wider audience.
