Description

The Global Alumni Graduate Fees Waiver is a 15%-20% reduction on the first year tuition fees available to Victoria University of Wellington international alumni paying international tuition fees transferring to a full-time undergraduate degree or postgraduate programme at Victoria University of Wellington. This includes Study Abroad and those returning for a full duration postgraduate programme at Victoria University of Wellington.

History

The Global Alumni Graduate Fees Waiver celebrates the University's commitment to supporting our international student community. From 2020, the Global Alumni Graduate Fees Waiver offers international alumni transferring to full-time undergraduate degree or postgraduate programme, including Study Abroad and those returning for a full duration postgraduate programme a discount of 15%-20% off tuition fees.

Eligibility

The fees waiver is open to any Victoria University of Wellington international alumni returning for full-time postgraduate taught study, Exchange and Study Abroad students progressing to a full-time postgraduate taught programme and Study Abroad students transferring to a full-time undergraduate degree or postgraduate programme. Graduate Certificates, Postgraduate Certificates, Certificate of Proficiency, PhD and EAP students are not eligible to apply.

Criteria

  • Applicants must be a Victoria University of Wellington international alumni returning for a full-time postgraduate study by coursework, Victoria University of Wellington Study Abroad and Exchange students returning for a full-time postgraduate study by coursework or Victoria University of Wellington Study Abroad students transferring to a full-time undergraduate degree or postgraduate programme.
  • Applicants must have an offer of place on a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate programme at Victoria University of Wellington and must meet any academic and English language conditions attached to their offer as stated in their Offer of Place
  • Applicants must be classified as international fee-paying students paying the international tuition fee rate without other discounts, waivers and scholarships applied

Application process

A completed online application must be submitted by 4.30 pm on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Any required supporting documentation (including references) must also be received by 4.30 pm on the closing date in order for the application to be considered.

Selection process

Successful recipients will be chosen by a selection panel from the Wellington University International.

Additional information

  • A tuition fee discount of 20% for the first academic year of study (120 points) is awarded if applying within 12 months of completing an eligible Victoria University of Wellington programme
  • Study Abroad and Exchange student alumni who apply within 12 months of graduating from their home university are eligible for a 20% tuition fee discount
  • Study Abroad student alumni who apply and transfer within 12 months of completing their Study Abroad programme are eligible for a 20% tuition fee discount
  • A tuition fee discount of 15% for the first academic year of study (120 points) is awarded if applying more than 12 months after completing an eligible Victoria University of Wellington programme
  • The tuition fee discount will be applied to the recipient's student fees account after the final withdrawal date for the courses of the trimester the recipient has been awarded for (roughly two weeks in to the trimester).

Regulations and conditions

  1. A completed online application must be submitted by 4:30 pm on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Any required supporting documentation (including references) must also be received by 4:30 pm on the closing date in order for the application to be considered.
  2. All offers of the Waiver will be conditional upon the recipient being fully enrolled in a full-time undergraduate degree or postgraduate coursework programme within the stipulated criteria and tenure of the Waiver. The Waiver will not be applied until this condition is met.
  3. The discount is awarded for the first year of study up to 120 points only and is refunded against paid gross tuition fees upon enrolment.
  4. Where Victoria University of Wellington has agreed on discounted tuition fees with partner institutions, those students benefiting from these arrangements will not be eligible for this fees waiver.
  5. This waiver cannot be held in conjunction with any other scholarship from Victoria University of Wellington.
  6. Students in receipt of full funding from external sponsorship bodies will not be eligible for this waiver.
  7. The University reserves the right to vary all or any scholarship awards, discounts, and regulations at its sole discretion.
