Janet Ruth McIsaac Prize for Spanish and Latin American Studies

The prize is awarded to the most promising 200-level student majoring in Spanish who demonstrated engagement, a high level of insight, and critical thought throughout in the year of the award.


The prize was established in 2020 and is funded by Tanya Jurado and Vangelis Vitalis in honour of Tanya's mother. The award recognises and encourages excellence in the area/discipline of Spanish and Latin American studies at Victoria University of Wellington.

Selection will be made by staff of Spanish and Latin American Studies in conjunction with the Programme Director of European and Latin American Languages and Cultures and the Head of the School of Languages and Cultures.

Recipients are expected to write a letter of thanks to the donor within one month of receiving the award.
