How drones have taken over the “kill zone” in Ukraine

Brigadier Stuart Nassé describes drone attacks as being like “the opening scene of Terminator 2”, and says the way war is waged has changed radically.

Brigadier Stuart Nassé is UK Head of Land Capability Coalitions, and Lead for the Multinational Drone Capability Coalition in support of Ukraine. He has undertaken command appointments in armoured and aviation engineering roles, including operational deployments to Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Brigadier Nassé visited Wellington to speak at the Centre for Strategic Studies conference 2026. CSS facilitated his interview with Jack Tame from TVNZ's Q+A programme.
