Gold Award for excellence for the Alan MacDiarmid building

Alan MacDiarmid building receives Gold Award for Excellence Leading edge design and innovation has seen the Alan MacDiarmid building take top honour in the prestigious Innovate NZ Awards of Excellence, organised by the Association of Consulting Engineers New Zealand. One of the five Gold Awards went to Beca for the cutting-edge heating, ventilation and air-conditioning design system for the Alan MacDiarmid building. Recipients were selected from more than 30 finalist projects showcasing outstanding engineering excellence and innovation. Convenor of Judges Allan Leahy said that there had been a very high standard of projects entered for the awards, many representing examples of world-leading applications of technology. The Alan MacDiarmid building opened in July 2010, and is an ecologically sustainable research facility in the heart of the Kelburn Campus.
