Project description
This project involves automation of a thermocouple homogeneity scanner, a precision measurement device used for non-invasive inspection of thermoelement health. The scanner is a custom-built multi-component device, utilising motor control, temperature control, and data logging and analysis. It currently runs on LabView, and main task of the project will be to create a new instrument control and data acquisition program in Python. Time permitting, the Python program will be modified to automate thermocouple calibration furnace measurements.
Student will be supervised by both Jimmi Rosa and Ana Rakonjac (MSLNZ).
Prerequisite: Experience with Python programming.
Location
Mainly at the provider's premises.
Measurement Standards Laboratory of New Zealand (A Business of Callaghan Institute).
