History and purpose

In honour of Jonathan Nicholls (ACC's Head of Actuarial Services who passed away in early 2015), ACC wishes to promote the actuarial profession in much the same way that Jonathan did. ACC is dedicated to supporting Actuarial Science students and others looking to pursue a career in the actuarial profession.

ACC’s actuarial team provides support to ACC and the Ministry of Social Development. This allows for a unique opportunity for any potential internship offered, as the successful candidate could be placed in either of the two agencies. As such, a successful student would have the chance to gain exposure to a variety of areas where actuarial skills can be applied, including a combination of traditional and non-traditional areas.

The purpose of the scholarship is to promote, develop and grow students wishing to pursue a career as an Actuary. It is also an investment towards local talent to provide a student in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance or specifically Actuarial Science with financial support to complete their final year of study at Victoria University of Wellington.
