Professor Hella von Unger
We invite you to join us for a seminar with visiting Professor Hella von Unger, from Munich. We will have tea/coffee together at 10.00am, with the opportunity to talk to Hella about your research interests. The presentation will begin at 10.30am. If you have other commitments, you are welcome to just come along for the presentation.

The landscape of ethics governance in the EU is diverse and dynamically evolving. Hella will present findings from expert interviews and focus groups conducted as part of the CHANGER project (EU Horizon WIDERA). The analysis highlights current challenges as well as possible ways forward for research ethics and ethics review in the social sciences and humanities, with a particular emphasis on researcher reflexivity and collaborative, relational ethics.

Hella von Unger is Professor of Sociology with a focus on qualitative methodologies at Ludwig Maximilian University, Munich, Germany. Her research focuses on qualitative and participatory methods, migration, health, and research ethics. Hella’s sabbatical project aims to learn more about how Māori community understandings of research ethics are addressed and incorporated in Aotearoa New Zealand.
