Meet Sterling, your Rainbow Adviser

Sterling Jones (they/them) is the University’s Rainbow and Inclusion Adviser. Sterling provides confidential support to staff and students on:

  • Working towards your goals and achieving them.
  • Wellbeing and life.
  • Guidance on gender and sexuality.
  • Legally updating your name or sex marker.
  • Connecting with support services.
  • Appointments can be booked online.

About Sterling

Born in Italy and raised in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland, Sterling has called Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Wellington, home since 2019. They identify as queer and non-binary and are part of the neurodiverse community. Sterling holds a psychology degree from Te Herenga Waka and has experience in mental health and peer-support roles. In their free time, they enjoy re-watching Star Trek, adventuring with their camera, and reading.

Gender-affirming care and counselling

We are proud to offer gender-affirming hormone replacement therapy in-house at Mauri Ora—Student Health and Counselling. Students can also access mental health support from our rainbow counsellors. Click here to find out more on the Mauri Ora website
