About
Kia ora tātou, ko Amanda tōku ingoa.
I identify as a lesbian cisgender female. My home is on the beautiful South Coast of Wellington, and I've lived in various places around Aotearoa and Australia since leaving my hometown of Palmerston North/Te Papa-i-Oea.
I have recently joined the awesome team at Mauri Ora after a previous role as a counsellor for tangata whai ora experiencing addiction. I’m continually inspired by the resilience of my clients and it’s a privilege to be engaged in this mahi.
I believe in a trauma-informed, strength-based approach that enables clients to find their own answers.
I use a variety of modalities:
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- solution-focused therapy
- cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
- somatic practices
- mindfulness.
I have two teenage children and enjoy swimming in the ocean, walking my dog, playing the guitar, and reading in my hammock (on the calmer Wellington days!)
I am registered with DAPAANZ (Addiction Practitioners Association Aotearoa New Zealand) and NZAC (New Zealand Association of Counsellors).
Ngā mihi mahana.
