Therle Drake Undergraduate Award for Excellence in Music

Information

This Award was established in 2013, through a bequest made by John Drake, in memory of his wife, Therle. The award assists outstanding students studying for a BMus in Classical or Jazz Performance at Te Kōkī – the New Zealand School of Music.

The Award shall be given annually to up to five top performance students auditioning for a BMus in Classical or Jazz performance at Te Kōkī—New Zealand School of Music, awarded on the basis of musical ability and academic merit. In any year preference may be given to a student studying a particular instrument or instruments nominated by the Head of School.

The award is offered based on nominations from the audition panel and decided by the Scholarships Committee in consultation with the CP Programme Director. Nominations are made at the end of the audition process (early November/early March).

Recipients are required to write a letter of thanks to the representatives of the donor on receipt of the award and to provide an end of year progress report if requested.
