APL Window Solutions Award for Sustainability and Innovation in Building Science

This award is established and funded through support from APL Window Solutions, a New Zealand based company started in the Waikato in 1971. APL brands Altherm Window Systems, First Windows & Doors and Vantage Windows & Doors position the company as a market leader in New Zealand, where it is the nation’s largest manufacturer of aluminium windows and doors. APL Window Systems maintains a commitment to operating its business in sustainable ways and caring for the environment, which is reflected in the conditions of this award. Selection of the prize will be made by the Programme Director, Building Science. The Prize may be held in conjunction with other Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington awards. Recipients will be asked to write a letter of thanks to the donor within one month of receiving the prize, which will be forwarded to the donor.

One prize per annum at $1,500

No application required

Recipients must be enrolled full-time at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington in the Faculty of Architecture and Design Innovation pursing a Bachelor of Building Science (BBSc) degree. Recipients will be chosen from candidates in their 2nd year of study to receive the award in their 3rd year of study. Selection criteria will include strength of the student’s portfolio with an emphasis on sustainability and academic performance. Financial need of students may also be considered.
