The Ferrier Research Institute welcomes and has experience in many types of relationships. We want these relationships to be based on good science and deliverability, and to be open and transparent between the parties.
Contract Research
All of our scientific expertise is available for contract work. We have a long experience of carrying out research and development under commercial terms for clients all around the world.
A prompt, transparent, and confidential approach
We can assess your needs under a non-disclosure agreement, provide estimated budgets and timelines to carry out the work and quickly put in place work order agreements. As a client, your needs come first. We normally operate on a time and materials basis, so you only pay the actual cost for the labour, raw materials, and shipping. Fixed-priced contracts can be done for smaller, defined pieces of work. All intellectual property developed during a contract is retained by the client and the confidentiality requirements of our clients is paramount.
We have a very up-front and open approach with our clients. Regular progress reports are provided usually with a follow-up meeting to discuss progress and any issues in a timely fashion. Reports will include full experimental details of the work where required.

Our speciality is finding innovative solutions to the most challenging problems. Our staff are highly qualified, and most have post-doctoral experience at top international universities. The Ferrier team has more than 20 years experience of fee-for-service work. We have an excellent track record of project delivery and return clients. For the synthesis of drug candidates, seamless transition from route development to process development to cGMP manufacture for clinical trials can be provided through our link with our onsite partner, GlycoSyn.
License or invest in technologies
Licensing and investment in our technologies is managed through our technical transfer office, Wellington UniVentures. If you wish to talk further about our progress in one of our impact areas, get in touch and we can arrange a non-disclosure agreement.
