2025 Teacher Education Excellence Awards

The School of Education hosted its annual Teacher Education Excellence Awards on Monday May 12, the evening before the graduation ceremony for Education students.

The Teacher Excellence Awards celebrate the professional commitment shown by education graduates, as well as high achievement and performance in teacher education programmes.

Whānau, principals, ECE leaders, mentor teachers and academic staff were in attendance to celebrate the achievements of twenty-two graduating students in both their academic studies and their Professional Practice placements from across five teacher education programmes: the Bachelor of Education (Teaching) Early Childhood, the Graduate Diploma of Teaching – Primary and Secondary, and the Master of Teaching and Learning – Primary and Secondary.

The Awards provide an opportunity for the School to showcase their outstanding teacher education graduates as they complete their programmes and begin their careers in the teaching profession.

The achievements of several students were further recognised through the Ilse E Steinberger Prize (primary), the Tony Holmes Prizes in Early Childhood Education, the the Māori Excellence Award and the Pasifika Excellence Award.
