“Management showed me that understanding organisations matters at every level, no matter where you work.”

Studying at the School of Management gave me a broad perspective on the many pathways you can pursue within a single degree. I particularly enjoyed my first-year Management course, which had a significant influence on the direction I chose to take with my studies.

Before starting my degree, I viewed management as something relevant only to leaders or senior roles. However, through my courses, I came to realise that regardless of where you sit within an organisation, having a strong understanding of management structures and organisational development is invaluable to any career. This has been especially evident to me since graduating.

After completing my Bachelor of Commerce, double majoring in Management and Marketing, I joined Silver Fern Farms through their Graduate Programme. I began my journey in the People team within their Organisational Development department, a role that closely aligned with my studies. What surprised me, however, was how strongly the principles I learned at the School of Management have continued to apply in my current role within the 5th Quarter Sales and Supply Chain team. While my current role is not directly related to my degree, there are many points of connection that give me confidence in how I operate day to day.

This foundation, combined with the support of the School of Management, opened doors to opportunities I hadn’t previously thought were possible.
