Ashleigh Donaldson
Flexible study pathways took Ashleigh from the classroom to international research and a graduate role at Deloitte.
I chose to study management after enjoying MGMT101, but never expected five years later the range of opportunities it would provide.
I had not even considered a Master of Commerce until I was offered the Advanced Study Pathway opportunity, which allowed me to complete postgraduate papers in my final year of my undergraduate degree. I loved the smaller, discussion-based seminars that encouraged critical thinking and extended my abilities beyond undergraduate level.
The support from the staff really contributed to my positive experience, as it was clear they wanted to see the full potential of their students.Through the School of Management, I have had research assistant opportunities, travelled, shared my research, and connected with peers and academics. The most rewarding opportunity was presenting my thesis at a conference overseas. It felt like a full-circle moment, from beginning my journey listening to academics share the research they are passionate about, to contributing research of my own. The experience pushed me out of my comfort zone but grew my confidence and ability to clearly communicate complex ideas.
Thanks to the skills I have developed through my Bachelor and Master of Commerce, I have secured a role at Deloitte and look forward to applying my skills in practice.
