Welcome

Welcome from the Head of the School of Management.

Head of School
School of Management

The School of Management is the leading management school in New Zealand and has an international reputation for high quality scholarship. We are committed to developing excellent teaching, research and engagement with our professional and practitioner communities – in tourism management, management studies and human resource management and employment relations.

Our students are able to combine the latest management thinking with other diverse perspectives, and we encourage students from other fields to add our courses to their programmes of study. Our graduates add value by understanding current best practices and thinking critically about better futures.

Our research strengths include new perspectives on management and leadership, ethics, employment relations, systems, strategy and innovation, and tourism. Our school retains a high ranking as one of New Zealand’s leading management schools in the Performance Based Research Fund evaluations and our programmes are accredited by the leading international agencies.

We have a truly global staff and student population and we innovate locally, having developed New Zealand’s first internationally accredited Tourism Management programme. We are also the home of the Centre for Labour, Employment and Work (CLEW), which holds New Zealand’s most complete data and analysis of workplace and employment trends, and the Brian Picot Chair in Ethical Leadership, which works towards facilitating a transparent and ethically sound business sector.
