The campaign is all about continuing to say “yes!” to reuse and “no!” to single-use cups for our on-campus caffeine fixes.
To support zero waste practices with your daily brew, simply bring your own cup along to one of our campus cafés.
If you forget your cup (it happens!), you could take an extra ten minutes of glorious time away from your desk, by sitting in at the café and enjoying your drink in one of their ‘have here’ cups. If you’re in a rush, no worries, our campus cafés have you covered―you can borrow and return an Auraki mug.
Last year’s ‘No Disposable Cups on Campus’ initiative avoided the use and landfill disposal of roughly 200,000 single-use cups and lids across the Kelburn and Pipitea campuses in 2022―wow! Thank you to our staff, students, and on-campus cafés for your participation and cooperation in this university-wide sustainability initiative.
We are grateful for the active participation of all our campus cafés in championing reuse and operating the Auraki system. Don’t forget to return any Auraki mugs you borrow. And if you have a moment, check out your kitchenette cupboard and rustle up any wayward Auraki mugs to return to any campus café or return buckets. You can identify them from their iconic white and green sticker.
