Jessica Millar

Jessica Millar is a passionate VFX artist who has worked in the film and television industry for over 15 years. She started out as a general 3D artist at the Moving Picture Company in London, where she worked on projects such as the Harry Potter film series.

She realised her passion lay in 3D lighting and cinematography, which led her to work as Lighting Technical Director at Double Negative in London, and Rising Sun Pictures and Fuel FX in Australia.

Further developing her skills, she started running shots as a Senior Lighting Technical Director at Wētā FX where she worked on landmark movies such as Avatar, the Hobbit trilogy, and the Planet of the Apes trilogy .

More recently, Jessica has begun to share her knowledge and passion for storytelling through lighting by lecturing students at Victoria University of Wellington and mentoring artists throughout the world via online platforms.

Currently Jessica is leading the Lighting Department’s Education and Training at Wētā FX, helping lighting artists to further their knowledge and develop skills through education, training, and mentoring.
