Primary healthcare
This component examines whether barriers in access to primary care are associated with inequities in colorectal cancer. Barriers to primary healthcare in Aotearoa New Zealand are well-documented, with inequities experienced by Māori and Pacific peoples. However, little is known about the barriers experienced by people with colorectal cancer.
This study aims to examine whether inequities in mortality among people with colorectal cancer are explained by not being enrolled with a general practice (as a proxy for poor access).
