Wellington to host the ACM Conference on Interactive Surfaces and Spaces

We are proud to be hosting The International Conference on Interactive Surfaces and Spaces (ISS), where experts will come together to share cutting-edge research and network. This conference brings together the minds behind innovative research such as touch phones and large touch surfaces, and it is coming to Aotearoa New Zealand for the very first time.

The four-day event, sponsored by the Association for Computing and Machinery (ACM) and the Special Interest Group on Computer–Human Interaction (SIGCHI) community, is to be held from 20 – 23 November 2022 in Wellington and will attract a global cohort of leading researchers.

Conference co-chair Dr Craig Anslow from the School of Engineering and Computer Science says the conference is about interacting with different modalities (for example touch, smell, VR/AR, and eye gaze), with novel devices from small mobile devices to large display, and everything in between.

“We will have three exciting keynote speakers, over 30 full papers presented, workshops and tutorials, tool demonstrations, case studies, posters, and a doctoral symposium as well,” Dr Anslow says. The event has been awarded a conference ranking of A by Computing Research and Education (CORE), which guarantees a high quality of research papers being presented. Dr Anslow expects local researchers to be among those selected.

Students interested in attending this world-leading conference can volunteer to help with the conference and will receive a free registration.
