Working Title

Late Holocene and Recent Evolution of the South Taranaki-Manawatu Coastline

Supervisors

Project objectives and description

My research investigates coastal change along the South Taranaki–Manawatū coastline, in the lower North Island, New Zealand. Using grain size and geochemical analysis, I am reconstructing sedimentary budgets over both long-term (Late Holocene) and modern (post-1940s) timescales. This will help identify and quantify the primary sources of beach sediment, aiding our understanding on why some sections of the coastline are eroding while others are prograding. Smaller-scale, local variability will also be explored.
