New Zealand on two wheels event

We've all seen heavily laden cyclists riding along the highway, and thought it looked like hard work. Bikepacking is different—it's a combination of multi-day cycling and lightweight backpacking that can be completed on mixed terrain or entirely off road.

Staff Wellness Manager Trish Knight and Professor John Randal are experienced bikepackers. In 2021, Trish completed the 3,000 km Tour Aotearoa, cycling from Cape Reinga to Bluff. John is a veteran of many bikepacking holidays and in 2018 he rode the Tour de France course raising money for The Mental Health Foundation.

Come to this event and hear inspiring stories from these two bikepackers. They'll show you what equipment you’ll need to plan your own bikepacking holiday this summer.
