Jaqui Knowles

I have a BFA and Masters in Museum & Heritage Studies. The MHST theoretical and practicum modules offered by Victoria University of Wellington, plus access to industry professionals, gave me a fantastic introduction to the world of museums. As a mature student, I studied part-time over several years and had contract work (a variety of roles), at The Dowse Art Museum and Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa.

Following my graduation, I was Exhibition/Public Programme Developer at the Museum of Wellington City & Sea (now Wellington Museum) for nearly five years. Then I shifted to Auckland to be the Programmes Manager, at Objectspace, – a publicly-funded organization exploring ideas and objects relating to innovative craft and design. I am now working as an Exhibitions Curator at the New Zealand Maritime Museum Hui Te Ananui A Tangaroa. I am privileged to work with a range of talented people and enjoy a high level of job satisfaction.
