A research focus on the intercultural interpretation and display of Chinese material culture, using the Canterbury Museum collection as a case study.

Ping Wei is a PhD candidate in Museum and Heritage Studies, with a research focus on the intercultural interpretation and display of Chinese material culture, using the Canterbury Museum collection as a case study. By examining these artefacts within their original social context and their recontextualization in Western museums, her work seeks to address the challenges of cross-cultural interpretation and propose more culturally informed approaches to museum display. She received her Master of Fine Arts in Art Archaeology and Heritage Research from Zhengzhou University (China), where she graduated with distinction and published on the dating and stylistic analysis of Dunhuang Grottoes.

She has presented at national academic forums and published in peer-reviewed journals, including Silk Road Cultural Studies(CSSCI) and the International Journal of Education and Humanities. Her broader research interests include art history, cross-cultural heritage studies, and Museum collections and display.
